We're sad to announce the retirement of Dr Sarah Smith
Dr Sarah Smith is retiring at the end of 2025. We have created here a form where patients of Dr Smith can submit messages, good wishes and perhaps some memories that we will collate into a book that we will present to her as a parting gift and keepsake.
If you would like to write something, please leave a message online.
Sarah has been at Swiss Cottage Surgery for virtually her entire career, starting at the surgery as a newly qualified GP in 1988. Many of our longstanding patients will remember Dr Smith in our former site on Compayne Gardens working initially with Dr Freund and later with Dr Charles Edmondson for many happy years, before relocating to our current premises Winchester Mews in 2006.
Dr Smith has been a GP educator and trainer for many years as well as the lead for women’s health and child safeguarding. Indeed she has been the GP Trainer for several GPs who have gone on to work at the surgery. For the team at Swiss Cottage an so many trainees that have passed through the surgery, Dr Smith embodies the very best of General Practice- the personal and caring approach, her in depth knowledge and experience, and her cherished decades of relationships with local people, often spanning three generations.
A doctor like Sarah is not easy to replace but her legacy and the imprint she has made on the surgery and it’s culture will endure.
Warm wishes, Martin, Farzad, Dan and Kevan and the whole Swiss Cottage Surgery team.
