What is the asthma clinic?

The asthma clinic is a specialist primary care service designed to improve the diagnosis and management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The clinic offers specialist respiratory assessments within a primary care setting, helping patients access the right tests and support without the need for a hospital appointment.

Who is the clinic for?

The asthma clinic is available to:

• Patients aged 6 years and over
• Patients registered with one of the eight GP practices in Central Camden PCN
• Patients who are experiencing symptoms of Asthma or COPD

The clinic is available by GP referral only.

Why might you be referred?

Patients are referred to the clinic when a GP needs to:

• Confirm whether symptoms are caused by asthma or COPD
• Carry out specialist breathing tests
• Provide advice on treatment and next steps

What does the clinic offer?

Patients attending the asthma clinic may receive:

• Specialist breathing tests, such as spirometry
• A review of respiratory symptoms and inhaler use
• Personalised advice on ongoing care and management
• Education on inhaler technique and lifestyle changes where appropriate

Where and when is the clinic held?

The PCN asthma clinic takes place at Kings Cross Surgery, 77–83 Chalton Street, London, NW1 1HY. Clinics are held every Wednesday, and appointments may last up to one hour.

How do I access the service?

If you think you may benefit from the asthma clinic, please arrange an appointment with your registered GP practice. If appropriate, your GP will refer you to the clinic. Once your referral has been accepted, you will be contacted to arrange your appointment.
